The best and most unexpected meals I've had were at the Sutton-under-Whitestonecliffe pub in Northern Yorkshire, England. It was a tiny village pub with the most amazing gourmet style meals (think pork medallions with mustard sauce rather than your typical pub fare, though the fish and chips were amazing as well!)
