Pub Guide: Shibuya
If you’re visiting Tokyo, Shibuya is probably top of the list of places you have to see. Our guess is that once you’ve experienced the crowds at Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing you’ll be scrambling to get out of there for respite- and a stiff drink.
The good news? Shibuya is party central. Here’s a list of pubs near Shibuya station & its neighbouring stations of Ebisu, Harajuku & Yoyogi!
4 mins walk from Shibuya Station (Hachiko Exit)
Mon-Sat Midday- 1am
Sundays & Holidays Midday-11pm
Happy Hour Mon-Fri: Opening-7pm
Temptingly close to Shibuya’s Scramble Crossing this branch of the Dubliners has a terrace that allows you to experience the crowds of Shibuya from a barstool. Run by Sapporo Breweries expect to get Yebisu (quality Japanese lager), Guinness & Kilkenny on tap. Food includes Shepherd’s Pie, Mussels & even Colcannon (Cabbage & Potato dish cooked in milk).
5 mins walk from Shibuya Station- Miyamasuzaka Exit
Sunday & Monday 5:30pm-Midnight
A craft beer mecca near Shibuya station. Over 20 craft beers on tap at any given time at this cosy 45-seater bar. Food is not so shabby either with Pumpkin Nachos to go with their Fish & Chips.
Abbots Choice British Pub
5 mins from Shibuya Station-South Exit
Open Daily from 3pm-7am!
This cosy 36-seater bar with live sports stays open all night until the trains start running again. Has the full complement of foreign beers- Strongbow, Guinness, Hoegaarden and a full pub grub menu. For those who want to see Shibuya in the morning with beer goggles!
3 mins walk from Ebisu Station
Designed and run as a British pub with a real live Scottish barman running the show. Famous for live music as well as in-house karaoke nights. The pub has a dark oak feel to it which gives it a relaxed atmosphere. An authentic bar frequented by a mix of foreigners & Japanese. The grub is amazing too!
3 mins walk from Harajuku Station
For one of the most authentic tap room experiences Baird Beer has you covered! The staff are really laid back and friendly to the point where you’ll think your having a few brews with ya mates! Low ceilings and expert wood craftsman ship simply add a spark of cosiness to the venue, making it truly a great place to be!
5 mins walk from Shinsen Station. Shinsen is considered to be Shibuya’s backyard
– this bar is a 10 minute walk from Shibuya Station
Happy Hour: Mon-Thurs 4-8pm/ Sunday 3-8pm
A solid craft beer bar. Goodbeer Faucets boasts a upbeat and lively atmosphere making it a great place to relax in for the night. There is a great selection of beers on tap which are often rotated to help keep options fresh!
4 mins walk from Shibuya Station
7 Days a Week: 8.30pm – 5am
A Japanese bar with an enticing name and an English speaking owner. A nice little Japanese style street bar! It’s a dingy dive bar with a great atmosphere and gets amazing reviews.
3 mins walk from Shibuya Station
Sat & Sun 12pm-1am
Happy Hour: Mon-Fri 5pm-7pm
A (real?) British Pub makes for an ideal hangout for rugby fans. If you’re looking for Hobgoblin Dark, Gold & IPA from Wychwood Brewery you’ve found it! Sunday roast available too- on Sundays only of course!
