Introducing the New Europe SIM Card

AT&T are happy to help you with unlocking your phone, although they may charge a fee if you're not currently an AT&T customer.

Unlocking Requirements
If you have a postpaid plan, your account will need to have been active for at least 60 days before it's eligible for unlocking.

If you have a prepaid/GoPhone plan, your plan will need to have been active for at least 6 months before it's eligible for unlocking.

If you purchased your phone on a 2 year plan with a subsidized handset, you'll need to have completed your 2 year contract and have no outstanding payments remaining on the device.

If you bought the phone through the AT&T Next early upgrade plan, you'll need to have paid off the total cost of the phone and have no payments outstanding on the device.

The phone must not have been reported as lost or stolen, or be associated with any fraudulent activity.

Military Personnel
AT&T has exceptions for deployed military personnel, but your account needs to have no outstanding bills and you need to provide proof of your deployment.

Non-Customers
If you aren't an AT&T customer, but have an AT&T phone, you can request that it's unlocked. AT&T may charge a fee for this however.

Requesting an Unlock
You're best to call AT&T's customer support and request an unlock. They should be able to do this for you immediately. AT&T also have an online system for requersting an unlock, but this can take a few days to process.

To unlock online, go to www.att.com/deviceunlock and follow the instructions.

You will need your phone's IMEI number, which is 15 digits long. You can find it in a number of ways...

On the phone, dial *#06# then press Send Go to Settings > About Look for the code underneath the phone's battery

AT&T will email you an unlock code, but this can take up to 2 days to process. We have had reports that if you call AT&T's customer support and request an unlock, it will be processed immediately.

Not all Verizon devices will work overseas, only Verizon's 'World' devices have that functionality. As well as the CDMA capabilities needed to use Verizon's network, Verizon World Devices have a SIM card slot - so you can insert a SIM card from an international service provider such as Mobal. Verizon World Devices are compatible with non-CDMA technologies that enable them to work on overseas cellular networks, such as 4G LTE, Quad Band GSM or UMTS.

Luckily, most of Verizon's phones are not locked, so usually there's nothing you need to do to make them work with a Mobal SIM card. There are a couple of notable exceptions to this though.

Non-iPhone Global Ready 3G Phones are usually locked, however they can usually be unlocked using the code 000000 or 123456 (just put the Mobal SIM in your phone and it will ask you to enter the code).

Prepaid Phone-in-the-Box devices are locked to Verizon for 12 months after activation. As above, you can try unlocking using 000000 or 123456. If this doesn't work, you will need to call Verizon to help you unlock the device.

With Sprint, there are two types of unlock available:

1. Domestic Unlock

A domestic unlock means that provided your phone has the capability, you can use it on any network, whether that's at home in the USA or with an international SIM card.

2. International Unlock

An International unlock means that you can use your phone with an international service, such as Mobal SIM card, but you won't be able to use it with a domestic USA service, such as AT&T or T-Mobile.

Unlocking your Device
When your device is eligible to be unlocked (e.g. you've reached the end of your two-year contract), Sprint will let you know and you can request a full, domestic unlock (which includes an international unlock).

If you bought your device after February 2015, Sprint will automatically unlock it for you at the end of your service plan or when you've finished the paying the instalments (this is a full, domestic unlock).

Once your device has been unlocked (domestic or international) you can use it with a Mobal SIM card.

Requesting an International Unlock
Sprint will perform an international unlock, even if you're still within your two-year contract - providing your account has been active for 90 days or more and you have no overdue payments.

You can request an international SIM unlock by calling Sprint Worldwide Care on 888-226-7212.

In addition to your account information, Sprint will ask you for your phone's IMEI number, which is 15 digits long. You can find it in a number of ways...

Military Personnel
Providing you can provide Sprint with deployment papers, Sprint will perform an international unlock no matter what stage you are in your contract.

Your Phone Might Not Work
Even if you get it unlocked, not all Sprint phones will work well enough with another network's SIM card. For instance, some of their models are sold as 'Global' phones, but when used with another SIM, you won't be able to make calls or send texts.

Below is information from Sprint which lists their models that (once unlocked) will work well overseas with a SIM card like Mobal's.

HTC One M8, One M9

LG Flex, G Flex2, G3, G4

Samsung GS3, GS4, GS5, GS5 Sport, GS6, GS6 Edge, GS7, GS7 Edge, Note 3, Note 4, Note Edge

All T-Mobile handsets are locked, but it's possible to unlock them provided certain requirements are met. Unlocking Requirements
You need to have been using your device on T-Mobile's network for at least 40 days.

If your phone was bought on a two-year contract, you'll need to be at least 18 months into that contract with no late payments.

If you're on a prepaid plan, your account must have been active for 12 months. In cases where your prepaid plan is less than 12 months old, you'll need to have made more than $25 in recharges for a basic phone, or for a smartphone more than $100 of recharges since the device was activated.

If your phone was purchased under a T-Mobile finance scheme, you will need to have paid this off.

Military Personnel
T-Mobile will unlock a device belonging to military personnel at any time as long as none of your payments are overdue. You will need to supply them with a proof of your deployment.

Requesting an Unlock
You'll need to contact T-Mobile's Customer Service to request an unlock. As well as your account information, they will as you for the device's IMEI number, which is 15 digits long. You can find it in a number of ways...
