Mobal has always wanted our customers to feel they make a difference with every purchase. Since 1989, our profits have been donated to various projects in Malawi. Feeding and educating the children of Malawi has been a crucial part of Mobal’s journey. The fact that we get to do this warms our hearts and motivates us daily to work towards a better future.
It’s always wonderful to be recognised for the great things that Mobal and our customers do. On the 26th of March, our team in Tokyo attended the Social Products Awards at the Jiji Press Hall in Ginza. Here, we were awarded the Social Product award. To be acknowledged amongst other amazing organisations that share the same mission to create a better world was truly an honour!
What are the Social Product Awards?
The Social Products Awards is an organisation that raises awareness and praises companies and/or organisations that help create a sustainable society. It awards those who are friendly and give back to society and our earth. The SPA is the only non-profit organisation in Japan that celebrates social products. Mobal prides itself on providing a service to help others give back; the SPA helps do the same by spreading the word of consumer consciousness. They highlight the importance of mindful spending, showing how every purchase can do good.
Why are Social Products so important?
Social Products are fundamental to the change we need to see. They don’t rely on fundraising for government grants – they are self-sustaining simply by being great products that people want to buy and use.
Sustainable change has always been at the forefront of Mobal’s Mission. Our charity’s hard work in Malawi creates long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes. Social products are services that invest in communities. They help build strong societies that gain the foundations to become self-sustaining societies. Creating these foundations for less fortunate communities helps empower them by providing jobs, skills, and resources.
The SPA effectively spreads the message of social responsibility. Mobal takes inspiration from many other organisations that are helping to create lasting change.
