Life Under Lockdown for Mobal’s Charity Partners

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re currently experiencing some form of national lockdown. As governments deal with the  COVID-19 pandemic, it can be easy to feel isolated from the world around us. The good news is that, even now, Mobal are still helping to make a positive change. Our charity partners are continuing to do vital work in the midst of the crisis – here are just a few ways that the profits from your Mobal products are helping to get the poorest through these unprecedented times.

Hope for children’s centre students

Due to the global coronavirus outbreak, all schools in Malawi have been forced to close. This could mean not just a lack of education, but also a lack of nutritious food, as many childrens’ only cooked meal per day comes while they’re at school. That’s why our charity partners have committed to delivering food to the students from their children’s centre in Blantyre every day! Our partners have delivered over 1,200kg of food so far, and supplied families with other essentials like soap and household cleaning supplies. That means that the most vulnerable kids won’t be driven further into poverty during lockdown!

Progress in building education

As regular readers of this blog will know, we believe that education is vital to bringing the next generation out of poverty. We’ve been dedicating proceeds from Mobal profits to building a state-of-the-art primary school in Malawi, so that we can ensure that kids get the training they need to not just survive, but to thrive as they grow into adults. We’re grateful that the government of Malawi has so far allowed us to continue construction, with social distancing measures in place. We look forward to opening our doors to a new generation when the project is complete!

How you can help

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel sector has meant that we haven’t been able to invest anywhere near as much in charitable causes as we’d have liked so far this year. So, we’re asking for your help. Please consider making a donation to Krizevac Project, the umbrella organisation for our work in Malawi and Japan. Every dollar or yen you donate will help us save lives, in a time when the poorest so desperately need it. None of the money raised goes to Mobal, it will go straight into the hands of the charity. You can donate to the cause here.

Now more than ever, the people of Malawi need your help.

Thank you.
