Currently, in the middle of the summer, it’s never too late to think about what’s coming right around the corner- fall. And fall for Japan means none other than Rugby fans pouring in for the big event of 2019.
Mobal has come into the game prepared by creating a unique ‘Drinking Passport’ for Japan to welcome all rugby fans and alleviate their brains from mapping out a day of where to drink.
How to Use the Drinking Passport
Using the passport is quite simple. All you need is your phone, some internet connection, and the booklet!
The book is separated into different areas across Japan, such as Tokyo, Okinawa, and Kansai areas. All you have to do is find out where you’ll be staying in Japan and choose the correct place. Each area contains a QR code that you can scan to pull up a blog post listing pubs wherever you’re staying.
Don’t know what a QR code is? Don’t worry, we got your back. Let’s have a practice round first. If you’re using an iPhone with iOS 11 and later, your camera will already have a built-in QR code reader. Some Android phones also have native functionality, but not to fear if you don’t.
For iPhones without a built-in QR code reader, Quick Scan is a good app to use.
For Androids, this one is a good one to download.
Now, it’s really simple. Trust me. Pull up either your camera or the QR reader app, and hover your phone over the code. A link should pop up on the top of your screen. Here’s what it looks like on mine.
Just click on that top link, and it will pull up whatever website the QR Code was instructed to do. This is the website yours should look like.
And there, as simple as that! Here’s take two, using a QR code from our Drinking Passport this time. I’m going to be around the Shinjuku area of Tokyo area, so that’s the QR code I’m going to scan.
