Mobal Japan WiFi connects to any of the big four networks in Japan; Softbank, DoCoMo, AU or Rakuten. That means that youll get great connectivity all over Japan! In your home, you can connect up to 8 of your devices to it, just like a traditional WiFi hotspot. Your device is powered by USB-C.

Your high speed data allowance will be reset on the 1st of each month. If you use more than your data allowance, your data speed will be reduced to a maximum of 384kbps until the 1st of the next month. These speeds may not be sufficient for streaming music or video, but they should be perfect for most data activities, such as web browsing, emailing, posting to Facebook, Whatsapp messaging, etc. In fact, it's great for all those things you need to do to make your friends and family at home jealous of your trip.

To make/receive voice calls, your device must support VoLTE (Voice over LTE):
Voice calling over the Softbank network is only available on devices that support VoLTE and with Android 12 or newer installed. Please check your device to find out if it's compatible.
Important: We have found that some devices still aren't able to make voice calls over the Softbank network despite meeting the above requirements. You can find a full list of devices we've found to be incompatible in the Voice+Data SIM section of this link.
Google Pixel Users:
With our Japan Tourist Data Only SIM Cards, there are currently known issues with the Google Pixel 7 and above handset range that primarily appear to affect the non-Japanese versions of these devices. Reports indicate that this issue can lead to frequent connection drops / intermittent issues with certain services and so (as we cannot take responsibility for device issues of this kind) we would recommend that you avoid these particular handsets when using our services.
iPhone Users:
USA-spec iPhones 14 and newer don't accept physical SIM cards, so you'll need a Japan eSIM to use our service.
All other iPhone models will work fine, as well as iPhones 14 and newer that are not USA-spec. If you're unsure, check you own device to see whether it has a a SIM slot to insert a physical SIM card.

What does "unlocked" mean?
If your device is "unlocked", it means that it can work with a SIM card from any network. If your device is "locked", it is restricted to work only on your regular carrier's network. Your device must be "unlocked" to work with a Mobal SIM.
How do you know if your device is unlocked?
If you purchased your device as an "unlocked" or "SIM Free" device from a retailer such as Amazon, then your device is almost certainly already unlocked. This means that it will work with our SIM card. If you purchased your device directly from your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.), your device is probably locked and, therefore, it may not work with our SIM card. If you're still not sure whether or not your device is unlocked, simply contact the store where you purchased your device from.

If your device is locked, it may be possible to get it unlocked - simply ask your provider about this.
